Former Elkhart Mayor David Miller talks with WVPE's Tony Krabill about his run for state representative
Former Elkhart Mayor David Miller is running as the Republican candidate for Indiana's 5th District seat for the state House of Representatives. That seat has been held by Democrat Craig Fry of Mishawaka since 1988. Miller joined the Elkhart City Council in 1996 and then ran for mayor in 1999, defeating four-term incumbent Democrat Jim Perron. He served two terms as mayor. Now, he's hoping to unseat Fry to represent the 5th district that covers northwestern Elkhart and northeastern St. Joseph Counties. WVPE's Tony Krabill recently spoke with David Miller about his run for the statehouse. Miller says it makes more sense for a former mayor to become a state legislator, rather than the other way around.
