Former WTRC personality Vince Turner talks to WVPE's Tony Krabill about his run for the State House
Vince Turner is an independent candidate for the Indiana House in District 49, which includes Bristol, Goshen, and parts of Dunlap and Middlebury in Elkhart County. The seat is currently held by Republican John Ulmer, who was defeated in the May primary by Wes Culver.
Listeners to another radio station in Elkhart will recognize Vince's name and voice from WTRC, where he was sports director from 1985 to 1998. Before that, he was a sports writer for The Elkhart Truth, and worked in radio in the Fort Wayne market. After he left radio, Turner became Vice President of Development at Bashor Children's Home in Goshen and is currently Vice President and Client Relationship Manager at Mutual Federal Savings Bank.
Turner's late mentor, former State Representative Phil Warner, inspired him to try his hand at politics.
