Last month, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management unexpectedly announced its intention to cancel air quality monitoring contracts with six local agencies statewide. Three of the decades-old contracts ended in December, while the remaining three will be cancelled in March. IDEM says the move is designed to increase government efficiency, but as Micah Schweizer reports from IPBS member station WNIN, the affected agencies aren't convinced.
