Jazz By the Border has been broadcast on WVPE Saturday nights from 9pm-Midnight since 2001. Hosted by WVPE Program Director Lee Burdorf, also Program Chair of the Elkhart Jazz Festival, the program is designed for true jazz fans featuring a larger variety of jazz than is heard on most jazz radio shows.
The program concentrates on playing the very latest and best jazz music providing information on new releases for all styles. A featured artist is presented on every program along with a list of the top 5 jazz CD's for the week from the jazz charts (Jazzweek.com and Billboard Magazine). Classic jazz performances are also liberally sprinkled in every show. Special programs focus on the Best CD's of the year as well as Downbeat poll winners from both Critics and Readers.
Edgy yet melodic, enjoy a locally produced show from our Elkhart studios--on the Indiana/Michigan 'border.' A perfect way to relax on a Saturday evening.
