Notre Dame adds new Office of Military and Veterans Affairs

The University of Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame has established a new Office of Military and Veterans Affairs to help serve students in that population.

The process to get the new Office of Military and Veterans Affairs started in January. The University is using the department to bring together services that were previously housed separately.

Many other universities have similar departments to work with military and veteran students.

Regan Jones is the director of the new department. He says the goal was to better serve veterans, active military members and their families who study at Notre Dame.

“The provost and deans decided that the university was going to be intentional about the way we approach this effort, you know, how we better support these students.”

Jones says much of his work in the coming months will be collaborating with other departments to bring together all the services necessary. He says a big part of the job going forward will be recruitment of future students from military and veteran populations.

He says as a veteran himself, he’s glad to see the university administration support initiatives like this one.
