Notre Dame To Implement New Clear Bag Policy

The University of Notre Dame

The University of Notre Dame has implemented a new clear bag policy for all ticketed events.

Starting with the home opener against Michigan on Saturday all spectators will have to carry anything they wish to bring into the venue in a 12 by 12 by 6 clear plastic bag.

All ticketed events in the stadium complex buildings, the Joyce Center and the ice arena are subject to the new rule--including the October 20th Garth Brooks concert.

University spokesperson Dennis Brown said the policy is similar to those at other venues.

“This is to help security personnel see in the bag and see exactly what people are bringing in and it also will help expedite the entry process by making it easier for security to examine what people are bringing into the stadium.”

Brown said for the first few games the processes is likely to slow down entry into the stadium as people learn about the new rule. He recommended coming early when possible.

Items can also be brought into the stadium in a gallon size zip top bag or a 4 ½ by 6 ½ inch clutch purse.
