The Outsiders Outside Art Fair is Labor Day Weekend in Harbert Michigan

The Outsiders Outside Art Fair kicks off Labor Day Weekend at the Judith Racht Gallery in Harbert, Michigan.  Outside refers to art made by someone not typically in the mainstream world of art and who is not educated in the arts.  The result is a wide variety of contemporary art as well as those who deal in vintage materials.

This year the event has grown to nearly 50 artists including Mary Proctor, from Tallahassee, Florida who has pieces in the Smithsonian and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.  Janine Fentiman from Ethnic Arts will display handmade pieces from Africa, Indian and elsewhere.  Artists will display everything from sculpture to quilts.

Friday evening  August 31st is the opening night and features Annie Hickman with live music, food and cocktails.  Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door or by clicking here to purchase online.  The fair continues on Saturday and Sunday 11am-5pm with tickets at $10.  Children age 12 and under are free.  More information is available here.
