South Bend Cubs Offer Fans Video Board Messages for Food Pantry Donations

The South Bend Cubs are putting fan messages up on their video board with proceeds going to the food pantry at the Kroc Center.

The South Bend Cubs would normally be getting ready for Thursday’s opening day, but with the coronavirus shutdowns the season is postponed.

Joe Hart is the President of the South Bend Cubs. He said the messages help the club stay connected with fans when there’s no baseball.

“Giving fans the opportunity to get messages up on the video board, that’s something that we normally do on game days anyway. So kind of in the spirit of opening day we figured we’d continue on.”

Any donation will go to the Salvation Army food pantry. Hart said the Cubs have also sent meals to health care workers at local hospitals and are planning something for opening day.

“But ultimately the end benefit is let’s try to help out another organization in town that’s doing good things to help the people of our community.”

Messages will go up on the board, and be posted to the team’s social media. You can find out more and send in a donation and message at the Cubs' Website.
