The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office has released information on a hit and run crash that occurred early this morning that killed a bicyclist.

St. Joseph County –At approximately 3:00 a.m. this morning, dispatch received a call
indicating that there appeared to be a body in the street on Ireland Road, just east of Keria
Trail. Officers arrived to find a deceased male lying next to a bicycle with apparent crash
injuries. Initial indicators are that the deceased male, identified as Uriah Scofield, 23, of
South Bend, was traveling westbound on Ireland Rd. when he was struck from behind by a
westbound vehicle. The vehicle then left the scene.
The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team (FACT) was activated, per protocol, to assist
with the investigation. Investigators are looking for a white Volkswagen.
An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, July 2nd, at 9:00 a.m. in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
