Kim Macon

Development Director

Kim Macon joined the WVPE staff in January of 1993 as the Marketing Director, a one-person department, handling membership, underwriting, public relations and special events.   From 1999 to 2005, she focused all of her efforts on securing underwriting and corporate support for the station.   Since February of 2005 Kim has been Development Director, overseeing all aspects of membership, underwriting, public relations and special events.    A graduate of Goshen College, Kim lives in Elkhart with her husband, Carl, and in her spare time, enjoys reading, crocheting, and crafting.

Notre Dame Film, Television, and Theatre presents the play Native Gardens, February 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, March 1,2,3 and 4.  Evening shows are at 7:30 pm with Sunday matinees at 2:30 pm in the Philbin Studio Theatre , DeBartolo Performing Arts Center on campus.  

Good fences make good neighbors…or do they?  A good-natured comedy about a backyard border wall.

WVPE is a proud media sponsor of An Evening with Isabel Wilkerson, Monday, February 26th, from 6 to 7:30 pm at the main branch of The Saint Joseph County Public Library.  Wilkerson , the Pulitzer Prize Winning author of "The Warmth of Other Suns", The Epic Story of America's Great Migration, will discuss her book,  host a question and answer period, and will sign books.

In its 60th year, The University of Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival is the oldest and most prestigious jazz festival in the nation.  The event features musical groups from Western Michigan; University of Illinois, Chicago; Roosevelt University; Lee University; Columbia College; and Alma College. 

For the ninth consecutive year, Indiana University South Bend presents "Lift Every Voice: Celebrating the African American Spirit" as part of Black History Month.  The celebration is scheduled for 7pm, Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the Campus Auditorium of Northside Hall.  

For The Love of Art Fair 2018, is scheduled for February 17, from 10am to 6pm, at the Century Center in downtown South Bend.  This art marketplace features a variety of mediums, including , pottery, fine woodwork, hand-crafted furniture,  fiber art, sculptures, paintings, plus many more items for you to peruse.  

Marimba Magic is the Elkhart County Symphony's next event scheduled for 4pm on Sunday, February 11th.  With a focus on students and their teachers, percussionist and educator Ben Runkel  will take the stage at The Lerner Theatre to perform with the Elkhart County Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra.  Click here buy tickets.

On Friday, February 2, Meet Me in the Gallery  opens the 2018 Goshen Health Entertainment Series.  The event begins at 5:30, concludes at 9pm and features The Scholastic Art Awards Exhibit, as well as music by ND Jazz Trio. The South Bend Museum of Art is the venue with concessions provided by Century Center.  

Notre Dame's  Mendoza College of Business announces a Preview Day of the Executive MBA program Saturday, December 9th from 8am to noon.  Visitors will have the opportunity to sit in on a class, meet current students, faculty and alumni and EMBA admissions staff.  

The South Bend Chocolate Company has been making handmade chocolates since 1991.  The makers of Classic American Chocolate announce their selection of holiday treats which include Chocolate Charlie, Christmas Pretzels, The twelve Cookies of Christmas, Christmas Crunch, Christmas Cookie Crunch, and Snowballs.   Products can be  purchased by the pound, and in boxed gift sets.  Tours are available at their main facility, with 16 additional locations.  Click here for more information.

WVPE is proud to support the IU South Bend's Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts ninth annual  Teddy Bear Concert scheduled for Friday, December 8th, at 7pm in the Campus Auditorium in Northside Hall.  This traditional show features a variety of holiday music provided by  the the South Bend Symphonic Choir and the IU South Bend Dance Company and Kick Line.  A new teddy bear can serve as a ticket for the show, which in turn will be donated to the Center for the Homeless and Beacon Children's Hospital.

Saint Mary's College invites college-bound students (grades 10-12) to attend a unique, three-day event with her mother or a female role-model in her life, December 1st through the 3rd.  This unique program  will allow mother and daughter, or  student and mentor to connect with each other, explore career possibilities and engage in workshops that will help  the transition from parent to mentor and help the student with her evolution from daughter to adult.   The weekend starts Friday evening, with all day sessions Saturday and Sunday.  Monday, December 4th is an optional chance to explore Sa

Diners will have the opportunity to step back in time during the 45th Annual Madrigal Dinners, December 1st through the 3rd in the Regina North Lounge of The Moreau Center For The Arts, on the campus of Saint Mary's College.  The dinners are December 1st and 2nd at 7pm and feature prime rib, while there is a matinee at 2pm on December 3rd and features cornish game hen.

Let us say farewell to a remarkable musician and legendary drummer, Mr. Billy "Stix" Nicks.   Billy passed away Wednesday, November 15th after an illness.  A frequent performer at WVPE events,  Billy will always be remembered for his talent, energy, and commitment to excellence. 

​Internationally r​enowned pianist, Stephen Hough, is scheduled to perform Wednesday, November 8th in the Leighton Concert Hall, Debartolo Performing Arts Center, on the University of Notre Dame campus.  Hough will perform solo piano works of Debussy, Schumann and Beethoven.  ​The Washington Post calls Hough "a virtuoso who begins where others leave off​." ​  The Guardian describes Hough​'s work as "the most perfect piano playing conceivable​." 

WVPE invites you to "Brian Wilson presents Pet Sounds:  The Final Performances", Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the  Morris Performing Arts Center in downtown South Bend.  The concert will include fellow Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin.  Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.
