ADEC looking for buddies for it's ball

ADEC, a Bristol-based non-profit that works with people with disabilities, is looking for community members to accompany its clients to a ball in April. A program it’s calling 'buddies.'

The buddies are not really volunteers. They still need to purchase a ticket to the ball but they will accompany one of ADEC’s clients to the event.

The buddy pairs will also take part in a choreographed dance at the ball.

Buddies are required to attend a training about interacting with people with disabilities and two dance rehearsals. Trainings start February 28th.

Michelle Sokol is a communications specialist with ADEC.

“The evening of the ball they will be attending a sit down dinner with their buddy and then they will attend the ball together and they’ll dance and laugh and have a great time together.”

Sokol said buddies need to be over 18. They’re looking for about 80 people total. She says they are also looking for volunteers to be in their ‘paparazzi’ and cheer for people as they enter the event.

The ball is April 20th. General admission tickets go on sale next month.
