BREAKING: Homicide In South Bend

The St. Joseph Co. Metro Homicide Unit is investigating a killing that occurred overnight in South Bend.

At approximately 1:25 a.m. this morning, July 3, 2020, the South Bend Police Department (SBPD) received a report of gunshots fired and a vehicle crash in the 1600 block of S. Marine St. Officers were dispatched to the area and located one male adult victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was inside of a vehicle and was removed by first responders who assessed him for life saving measures. It was determined that the victim was deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.


Per protocol, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was activated and is
currently handling the investigation.


Several witnesses have been interviewed. At this time, no arrests have been made.


The victim has been positively identified as Jeremiah Parker, 19 years old, and the family
has been notified. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday morning, July 6th  in Fort Wayne. Once the examination is completed, results of the autopsy will be shared with the media.
