On Saturday, August 30, Buchanan presents an afternoon and evening of exciting free jazz performances along with visual artists who will be demonstrating and selling their work. Antiques and collectibles will also be in the mix, so visitors can spend the day browsing, while enjoying the jazz performers listed below. This is the final "Last Saturdays of the Common" for 2014; Buchanan Jazz Art and Antiques Festival.
Attendees can visit the many downtown shops and restaurants and glaze their own pottery at the Buchanan Art Center. The water-powered wheel at historic Pears Mill will produce ground corn and wheat for purchase. From noon to 7:00PM there will be artists & antiques on the Common & Pears Mill Grounds. Also beginning at noon, The Dean Allrick Trio plays until 2PM. Next the guitarist Andy Brown and his Trio performs from 2 to 4PM . The Rose Colella Trio follows from 4 to 6PM. And the evening concludes with The Kimberly Gordon Big Band playing from 7 to 10PM. The Festival will be located primarily in the Buchanan Common and Pears Mill. Downtown Buchanan is the backdrop for this festival that provides lots of fun, food, and family entertainment. WVPE is proud to be a media sponsor.
