Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is thanking his staffers of color for feeling able to voice their grievances following a news report that said some had expressed frustrations with the campaign.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that some Buttigieg staffers had expressed their concerns during campaign diversity meetings last month.

Buttigieg has struggled to garner measurable support among African American voters nationally.

Campaigning in Iowa on Tuesday, Buttigieg said that every organization has to work harder to ensure "that inclusion is a reality."
