Cities Host Events for Arbor Day

 

Cities around the area are celebrating this weekend for Arbor Day.

IUSB is hosting a zero waste breakfast this morning, Goshen has activities and tree giveaways this evening. Elkhart is hosting a full environmental event Saturday including a celebration for it’s 30 years of having a ‘Tree City USA’ designation.

Jamison Czarnecki is the supervisor at the Elkhart Environmental Center.

“We’ll have a lot of different organizations and city departments that will be having informational tables and activities as well. So there’s no shortage of things to do.”

The City of South Bend is also giving out free trees on Saturday. There are invasive species removal activities in Elkhart and Vandalia, tree planting and gardening activities at Fernwood Botanical in Niles and Potawatomi Zoo is hosting a ‘party for the planet.’
