The campaign for Elkhart Republican candidate for mayor, Dave Miller, released the following statement Monday night following an episode in which MIller fainted during a debate at an Elkhart Rotary Club meeting. It was the second time in a little more than a month that Miller had fainted at a debate venue. Another debate that was scheduled for Monday night was cancelled.

Here is the statement in its entirety:

(Elkhart, IN)  Today, regrettably Mayoral Candidate Dave Miller had a momentary fainting spell during the Elkhart Noon Rotary Club Mayoral Debate at the at the Matterhorn Conference Center on Monday, October 14. "Over the course of the past three weeks, I have had three incidents of an irregular heartbeat that led to dizziness or fainting spells. I sought medical assistance and was immediately released with clear EKG results. These things can happen and unfortunately this was at an inopportune time. While I was assured there is no evidence of life-threatening conditions, there is no doubt I am taking my health seriously to eat well, drink fluids, sleep and understand how to resolve this from happening again.”

Back in 2011, Miller was diagnosed with occasional atrial fibrillation and has thereafter completed treatment that resolved irregular heart rhythms. Today, Miller visited his Cardiologist’s office, where they did not admit him, stating that they will continue to monitor the situation.

“It’s a little bit embarrassing, however I quickly felt better and plan to stick to my schedule,” states Miller. Miller and his campaign team are confident that he is up for the challenge to be the next Mayor and plans to Move Elkhart Forward!
