Elkhart Community Schools has named Steve Thalheimer as it’s new superintendent.
Thalheimer will leave his current position as the superintendent of Fairfield Community Schools in Southeastern Elkhart County, a position he has held for the last five years.
He has also been a teacher, curriculum coordinator and assistant superintendent.
Thalheimer replaces interim superintendent Mark Mow, who took the position after Rob Haworth resigned to become the superintendent of Vigo County Schools at the end of last school year.
Thalheimer comes to Elkhart Community Schools as the district is working on merging its two high schools and revamping curriculum.
He is expected to start on January first.
