Fill'er up: Michigan gasoline prices fall below $2.50 a gallon at some stations

Michigan motorists are spending less and smiling more at the gas pump these days.

The state’s average price, $2.77, is at its lowest point in years. Some stations are charging less than $2.50 a gallon.

Patrick DeHaan is with GasBuddy.com. He expects prices will continue to fall.

“On the low side, that could mean some stations briefly touch the $2.30s a gallon,” says DeHaan.

If you want to fill your tank with thecheapest gas in the nation, be prepared to take a long drive. Gasoline prices in Oklahoma City fell below $2 this week. 

DeHaan credits falling world oil prices for the decline.

OPEC nations decided against scaling back oil production this month. The price for a barrel of oil has fallen below $70. Saudi officials say they expect the price will not fall below $60 a barrel.
