The Flint city council is expected to take up some budget amendments at Monday’s meeting.

Flint’s budget process has been a bit bumpy this year.

Mayor Karen Weaver vetoed changes the city council made to her budget proposal.

The council added about two million dollars to the budget, mainly toadd firefighters. Last week, the council voted 6-1 to override the mayor’s veto.

But concerns remain about how tapping the city’s reserves may affect Flint’s ability to avoid falling back into state receivership.

A spokeswoman says Mayor Weaver would like the city council to take a “more responsible approach.”

The mayor is holding a news conference before the city council meeting to make an announcement regarding the Flint Fire Department.
