Glitch In State Registry's 'Next Available Appointment' Feature Leaves Local Appointments Unfilled

(Justin Hicks/IPB News)

A glitch in Indiana’s online vaccine registry is causing appointments at local clinics to go unfilled.

As of Thursday morning, the state registry showed several appointments available for Friday at the St. Hedwig Memorial clinic in South Bend.

But, if you click the button that says “Find Next Available Appointment,” the site takes you to Thursday, March 18 – nearly week later than the actual next available appointment.

The same thing happens with other health department, hospital and community vaccination clinics on the registry. St. Joseph County Health Officer Dr. Bob Einterz said the glitch caused available appointments at the St. Hedwig clinic to go unfilled Wednesday and Thursday.

He encouraged people to click on each individual day to see whether appointments are available.

“If I’m going, for example, today on the website, I would want to click on tomorrow, rather than just clicking on ‘Next Available,’” Einterz said.

That way, he said eligible residents will be able to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Einterz said he knows the state is working to fix the glitch, but does not know when it will be repaired.

Vaccination appointments can also be made by calling 211.
