Goshen Residents Find A Way To Stay Connected Through Music During COVID-19 Outbreak

Annacaroline Caruso / WVPE News

Goshen residents stood out on their front porches Sunday evening, singing to each other. The inspiration came from viral videos of Italians playing music from their balconies despite being quarantined for Coronavirus.

Residents across Goshen sang different songs, like “Amazing Grace” and “This Land is your Land.” Some neighbors sang together if their homes were close enough.

Angela Studebaker sang outside with her family. She said this is how the community can stay connected while still being safe.

“Even though we can’t be face to face and touch one another like we normally do, finding ways to still have that community feeling and connect with one another is so important in times of crisis.”

Several people also took videos of themselves singing and playing instruments and posted those to Facebook as a symbol of community.

Residents are planning to continue this way of interacting as long as outbreaks of COVID-19 continue to be a risk.
