Preparations are expected to begin this week for a quarter billion dollar mixed-use development on the border of Lansing and East Lansing.
Lansing Mayor Andy Schor says workers will be begin clearing the 36 acre site of the $270 million Red Cedar Development Project. A ground breaking is expected next month.
It’s been nearly a decade since Lansing officials proposed selling the former Red Cedar golf course to developers.
The project has undergone many changes since.
The current project includes plans for hotels, student housing, multi-family and senior living apartments, as well as retail space. Part of the former golf course is also slated to be preserved as parkland.
Construction is expected to begin later this year and will likely continue into 2023.
