Michigan Supreme Court Rules On Remote Testimony

The Michigan Supreme Court says it’s unconstitutional to allow remote testimony by expert witnesses over the objection of defendants facing criminal charges. The court ruled six-to-zero that video testimony can deny defendants the right to directly confront witnesses. The court also ordered the lower court to decide whether that violation might have changed the result in this case, which was a conviction on a charge of rape.
