Most Local Counties Remain In More Serious Color Categories

IDOH

The latest update to Indiana’s COVID-19 tracking map still shows the majority of counties in Northern Indiana in the more serious “orange” and “yellow” color categories.

Four counties in the WVPE listening area are in the orange category, which indicates high spread of the virus. LaPorte, Elkhart and LaGrange counties all maintained their orange status from last week, while Starke County moved to the orange from the less serious yellow category.

Conditions also worsened in Pulaski County – it moved from the least-serious “blue” category to the yellow, which indicates moderate spread of the virus. St. Joseph, Kosciusko and Marshall counties all maintained their yellow status from last week.

The only county in our area still in the blue – which indicates the lowest spread of COVID-19 – is Fulton County.

Hospitalizations continue to rise in Healthcare District Two, which covers most of the WVPE listening area. They’re now as high as they were in mid-January. The number of blue counties statewide also decreased slightly this week, from 52 to 47 – that's just over half of all 92 Hoosier counties.
