ISDH

NEW (Nov. 22):

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana has reported 6,255 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 48 additional deaths. The Indiana Department of Public Health announced Sunday that there have been 295,357 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. The death toll is 5,040. Nearly 4 million tests have been administered in the state. Gov. Eric Holcomb reinstated crowd limits last week and has appealed for people to abide by the statewide mask mandate as steep increases in COVID-19 patients are straining hospitals around the state.

PREVIOUS POST (Nov. 21):

Data released Saturday by the Indiana State Dept. of Health shows ICU bed availability in District 2 (which includes most of the counties in the WVPE listening area) is down to 13.4%.

Hospitalizations for District 2 are at a new all time high as of the latest stats released. 369 COVID-19 patients are being treated in area hospitals right now.

State health officials say the number of COVID-19 patients being treated at Indiana’s hospitals remained above 3,000 people for the fourth straight day on Friday. The Indiana State Department of Health reported Saturday that Indiana's hospitals were treating 3,168 COVID-19 patients as of Friday. That’s the largest number of COVID-19 patients since the state began releasing public reports on coronavirus hospitalizations last spring. The state agency also added 40 more coronavirus-related deaths to Indiana’s pandemic toll, raising those deaths to 5,246, including confirmed and presumed coronavirus infections. Another 6,983 Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19, boosting the number of Hoosiers with known coronavirus infections over 289,000.

PREVIOUS POST (Nov. 20):

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — State health officials say more COVID-19 patients were being treated in Indiana's intensive care units on Thursday than at any other point in the pandemic. The Indiana State Department of Health said in its daily statistics update Friday that Indiana hospitals were treating 3,077 COVID-19 patients as of Thursday. That's a 277% increase since late September, when Gov. Eric Holcomb lifted nearly all business and crowd size restrictions. And now more of Indiana's ICU beds are filled with COVID-19 patients than at any other point in the pandemic. More than 78% of Indiana's ICU beds are in use, leaving 2,153 beds available as of Thursday.
