New Mishawaka Superintendent Has Plan For First 90 Days

Wayne Barker, School City of Mishawaka's superintendent, plans to stay organized and productive while settling into his new role.

Barker broke up his 90-plan into three phases.

He will spend the first 30 days listening to people's thoughts on the school
district.

Then, he plans to spend more time understanding the Mishawaka school
system.

And in the final 30 days he will set up goals and initiatives for the following
school year.

Barker said he would like to maintain and build upon the things that are
already positive about School City of Mishawaka.

“This school district is in good shape and a lot of positive changes
have been happening in the past few years and so what I want to do is
determine how they’ve done that and what are some areas we can
continue to move forward in,” he said.

Barker officially replaced Dean Speicher as superintendent on July 1st.

His plan was inspired by talks with other superintendents and a book titled
The First 90 Days.
