No additional fetal remains have been found after a search of two St. Joseph County properties.
Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies are searching the two properties in St. Joseph County in the Ulrich Klopfer investigation. The doctor performed abortions in Indiana before his license was suspended in 2016.
Klopfer died earlier this month. The investigation comes after more than 2,000 medically preserved fetal remains were found on his Illinois property.
St. Joseph County Prosecutor Ken Cotter said the investigation remains ongoing.
“At this point I can tell you there are not fetal remains here. They’re still investigating. We’re still looking but there does not appear to be any fetal remains here.”
Cotter spoke outside of Women’s Pavilion in South Bend, where Klopfer practiced. The clinic stopped offering abortion sevices in November of 2015 and closed in March of 2016. Medical records found on site are being searched as part of the investigation.
A second property, a vacant lot on Lincolnway West, was also searched. Nothing was found there.
Klopfer also performed abortions at clinics in Gary and Fort Wayne.
