Officials: Suspect Still At Large After Naked Man Shoots And Kills Woman At South Bend Motel

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's office has released the following information on behalf of the Metro Homicide Unit after a naked man reportedly shot and killed at woman Sunday at the Rodeway Inn.

St. Joseph County –The victim from yesterday’s shooting at the Rodeway Inn (50000
block of Indiana 933, South Bend) has been positively identified and her family has been
notified. She has been identified as Jenna Lynn Vanhorn W/F, 22, of South Bend.


Yesterday, September 15, 2019, at approximately 3:45 a.m., St. Joseph County Police
Department (SJCPD) officers were dispatched to a call of a black naked male shooting in
the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased female,
Ms. Vanhorn, in one of the Inn’s rooms. SWAT and the St. Joseph County Metro
Homicide Unit (CMHU) were also called in.


CMHU took over the investigation, per protocol. An autopsy was conducted this morning
for Ms. Vanhorn in Fort Wayne, IN. The forensic pathologist determined her cause of
death to be gunshot wound and the manner of death to be homicide.


As of the issuance of this release, no suspect has been taken into custody.
