South Bend Woman Dies After Being Shot, Another South Bend Woman Is In Custody

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office has released information on an early morning shooting that has left one woman dead and another behind bars.

On September 6, 2020 at 1:34 a.m. the St. Joseph County Dispatch Center was notified of a shooting victim located in a vehicle that was stopped at Logan Street and Mishawaka Avenue in Mishawaka, IN. When officers of the Mishawaka Police Department arrived at that location, they found a woman who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Although officers at the scene rendered aid and summoned
medical personnel, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
 

Mishawaka Police Department officers secured the crime scene. The St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office was contacted and, per protocol, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit [CMHU] was activated and is currently handling the investigation. Witnesses have been interviewed by CMHU Investigators. The woman who died at the scene has been identified as DOMINIQUE HERRON, 24 years old of South Bend, IN and her family has been notified.
 

CMHU arrested JEANETTE WILLIAMS, 24 years old of South Bend, IN on preliminary criminal charges of Criminal Recklessness and Reckless Homicide. These charges are being reviewed by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.
 

This is an active and on-going investigation. An autopsy will be conducted and an update will be provided when more information is available for release. Please be advised that Ms. Williams was arrested on preliminary suspicion only and is presumed innocent until and unless charged and convicted in a court of law.
