St. Joseph County Democrats Hold GOTV Rally

The St. Joseph County Democrats hosted Joe Donnelly, Mel Hall and other local candidates at a Get Out The Vote rally Monday night.

Local Democrats and Democratic candidates thanked their supporters and volunteers and encouraged them to continue working til the polls close.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg says getting out the vote is the most important thing. “And it all depends on this one thing. Which is, do our people vote? Will the people who share our values vote? And that depends, in part on whether we ask them to.”

Senator Joe Donnelly says with the races as they stand, volunteers work isn’t done yet. “You have to knock on doors still. You have to make phone calls still. The senate race is going to be very, very close. This congressional race is going to be very, very, very close.”

David Chaudoir is from Granger. Tuesday he’ll be canvasing, then he’ll be giving people rides to the polls. He says doing that work is part of the democratic process. “If you want your message to get out, you have to be willing to put some shoe leather into it.”

Mel Hall summed it up succinctly "Vote. Vote. Vote."

Polls in Indiana are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Michigan polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
