Republican state representative Bryan Posthumus has been sentenced to a 15-day jail stay for drunk driving.

Posthumus represents West Michigan’s 73rd District. In April, he flipped his car and was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Now, a judge has sentenced him to 15days in jail. He’ll then face two years of recovery court probation, and random monthly drug and alcohol testing.

In a statement, Posthumus called the incident “the wake-up call I needed to make serious changes in my life.” He said he’s begun attending Alcoholics Anonymous, and is now living a “sober and healthy life.”

Posthumus has also pledged to re-pay the state his lawmaker’s salary during his jail time.
