Two 16-Year-Olds Die In Separate Shootings In South Bend And Elkhart

Two 16-year-olds have died in separate shootings.

The first occurred Friday night in the 1,800 block of Sampson in South Bend.  The victim is identified as Curtis A. Frazier, Jr.

Friday South Bend police responded to a call of shots fired around 9:35pm and found two people with gunshot wounds. Frazier was dead at the scene. The other victim, Makyi E. Toliver, 18, of South Bend survived. 

The St. Joseph Co. Metro Homicide Unit has conducted interviews, but so far no suspects have been arrested. 

Meantime in Elkhart, early Saturday morning officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Wagner Avenue following a call about a subject on the railroad tracks.

Officers arrived and located Jaiden Cooper, age 16.  They say he had multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was called and is currently working the investigation.
