NEW: Man Charged With Murder Following Deadly Weekend Shooting In South Bend Surrenders

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office has announced charges against one man following a deadly weekend shooting at a South Bend gas station.

Raymond M. Dotson, Jr. is alleged to have used a semiautomatic weapon to kill a man he got into an argument with. The man who died was carrying an "air soft" toy gun. Police say surveillance video shows the whole thing. 

Here is the release that was issued: 

St. Joseph County –The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Raymond M. Dotson, Jr., 34, with Murder in the October 19, 2019, shooting death of Joshua Flinn at the
Phillips 66/Always Open gas station (corner of LaSalle and Lafayette Blvd, South Bend).

Probable cause was found and an arrest warrant ordered issued. Defendant was ordered
held without bond. At the issuance of this release, Mr. Dotson has not been taken into
custody.

Probable Cause.

Law enforcement is actively seeking Mr. Dotson on this warrant. Anyone with information
regarding Raymond Dotson’s whereabouts is asked to call CMHU at 574-235-5009 or

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit has released the following information regarding a deadly shooting in South Bend early Saturday morning.

St. Joseph County- This morning at approximately 1:51 a.m., South Bend Police Department officers were dispatched after receiving a ShotSpotter alert of multiple shots fired at the Phillips 66 Gas station (corner of LaSalle and Lafayette Blvd). Officers arrived within a minute to a minute and a half of dispatch and found one person shot; that individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was activated, per protocol, to handle the investigation. The deceased individual has been positively identified and his family has been notified. He has been identified as Joshua Lamot Flinn, B/M, 36 years old, of South Bend.

 

This remains an active and ongoing CMHU investigation. Investigators are looking to identify and speak with two individuals of interest in connection with this investigation (please see attached still photos from video at the Phillips 66).
