UPDATE: Woman Shot On New Year's Day In South Bend Dies & Another Homicide Occurs Saturday

The Commander of the St. Joseph Co. Metro Homicide Unit released new information today regarding a shooting on January 1st and about another separate homicide case unfolding this weekend.

The information is below: 

Carrie Jamerson, the victim of the shooting at the Savage Guardian Motorcycle Club on 1-1-20 has passed away. An autopsy is currently scheduled for Monday morning in Ft. Wayne.

Secondly, today at approximately 12:40pm, the body of an African male was found by a passerby in an alley near the 1300 block of Corby Blvd. South Bend Police responded and contacted Metro Homicide. We are currently investigating this death as a homicide. The victim has been positively identified as Deshawn Daniel Pfeifer of South Bend. He was 20 years old. We are currently interviewing witnesses and friends of the victim. No arrests have been made at this time. We are aggressively investigating both these murders and will provide more information as it comes available.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office released the following information on behalf of the Metro Homicide Unit following an early morning shooting Wednesday in South Bend.

 

 

St. Joseph County

This morning at approximately 3:00 a.m., South Bend Police Department officers were dispatched to Ripples Bar in reference to a shooting (2100 block of Michigan Street, South Bend). 

 

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male and a female in the bar suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a local hospital. The male, identified as Salmen Johnson, 28, was treated for non life threatening injuries and released. The female, identified as Carrie Jameson, 32, remains in the hospital in critical condition at the time of this release.

 

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was activated, per protocol, to handle the investigation. This is an active and on-going investigation. At this time, no suspects have been taken into custody.
