The California winemakers who hosted a dinner at a “wine cave” for Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg are defending the fundraising event.

Buttigieg's political rivals used the fundraiser to criticize the South Bend, Indiana, mayor for soliciting campaign contributions from wealthy donors at Thursday's Democratic presidential debate.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren described a lavish Buttigieg fundraiser featuring $900 bottles of wine and crystal chandeliers.

Buttigieg Releases List Of McKinsey Clients

The Buttigieg campaign released information about the clients Pete Buttigieg worked for when he was at McKinsey.

His campaign released the details Tuesday evening while the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Indiana, attended a fundraiser on Park Avenue in Manhattan. It was the first event on a five-day fundraising swing that features 10 meetings with big donors, and the first time Buttigieg allowed the media to cover fundraising events that had been previously kept secret.

UPDATE: Consulting Firm Allows Buttigieg To Release Names Of Clients

The McKinsey & Co. consulting firm says it will allow Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg to identify the clients he served more than a decade ago.

The announcement comes the same day that Buttigieg pledged to open his fundraising events to the news media and provide the names of key fundraising organizers. 

The moves Monday reflect the growing pressure Buttigieg is under as his campaign gains traction in early voting states less than two months before the Democratic contest begins.

(AP) — As he labors to win over black voters whose support is vital to his Democratic presidential bid, Pete Buttigieg found a receptive host on Sunday in a civil rights activist who has sought to continue the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s push for a racially diverse national campaign against poverty.

The investigation into the shooting of a black man killed by a white police officer in South Bend is not expected to be complete before February.

The police shooting in June gained national attention because the city’s mayor, Pete Buttigieg, is running for president.

The special prosecutor leading the investigation, Richard Hertel, told The Associated Press that his hope is to finish by February, although there’s a remote possibility it could happen before then.

Iowa's first in the nation caucuses are Feb. 3, 2020.

Buttigieg Releases More Tax Returns

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg has released two additional tax returns from his time working at consulting firm McKinsey.

The documents released hours before Wednesday’s debate show he made $80,397 in 2007 and $122,680 in 2008. He previously released his 2009 to 2018 returns.

Buttigieg hasn’t described his work with McKinsey in depth, saying he is bound by a confidentiality agreement. He said this month that he would ask about getting the agreement released.

A campaign spokesman says they made that request.

ATLANTA (AP) — Pete Buttigieg will speak at historically black Morehouse College in Atlanta on Monday as he tries to expand his appeal among black voters who are critical to winning the Democratic presidential primary.
