Franklin College Fires Its President

STURGEON BAY, Wis. (AP) — Franklin College in Indiana has fired its president after he was arrested in Wisconsin on suspicion of using a computer to facilitate a sex crime and attempted child enticement.

Thomas Minar was arrested by Sturgeon Bay police on Jan. 6 and released on $7,500 cash bond after a hearing.

Franklin College says its Board of Trustees Executive Committee “felt it was essential to act immediately and sever his relationship” with the college.

UPDATE: 

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — A flight attendant charged with public intoxication after passengers on a Chicago-to-South Bend flight noticed her inebriation has agreed to undergo alcohol abuse counseling.

Forty-nine-year-old Julianne March of Waukesha, Wisconsin, reached a pretrial diversion agreement that includes alcohol abuse evaluation and counseling during her Thursday initial hearing.

If March meets all of its terms the public intoxication charge will be dropped after one year.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday that one of the three fired workers, Edgar Gardozo-Vasquez, 36, of Brook, was taken into custody and is being held at the Newton County Jail on a felony charge of torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal and misdemeanor animal cruelty.

The department says U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on Gardozo-Vasquez. It says there are outstanding warrants for two other former Fair Oaks workers

It’s not clear whether Gardozo-Vasquez has an attorney who might comment on his behalf.

STURGIS, Mich. (AP) — Police in southwestern Michigan found a woman's dismembered body in an apartment.

Sturgis police say 35-year-old Wade Allen was charged Thursday with murder and mutilation of a body, a day after officers were told about a body in his apartment. It wasn't immediately known if Allen has a lawyer who could comment on the case.

The Sturgis Journal says the victim is Kelly-Jien Warner-Miller.

Today the St. Joseph County Prosecutor charged 31-year-old Adam Rushing with criminal confinement, strangulation and intimidation. 

A former sheriff's captain in Elkhart County has been charged with lying during an investigation into alleged wage theft by employees he supervised. This comes just days after he resigned from the department. 
 
Prosecutors charged 49-year-old James Bradberry on Tuesday with three counts of false informing. Prosecutors allege the former captain concealed information about Elkhart County Sheriff's Department employees who are accused of collecting $45,000 for hours they didn't work between 2014 and 2017.
