Energizer Plans Indiana Packaging Center, Would Employ 440

FRANKLIN, Ind. (AP) — Battery maker Energizer is planning a packaging and distribution center in central Indiana that would employ more than 400 people.

St. Louis-based Energizer Manufacturing Inc. wants to open that center in a 933,000-square-foot shell building at the Franklin Tech Park.

Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett tells the Daily Journal city officials began meeting about two months ago with Energizer representatives about the project in the city about 25 miles (40 kilometers) south of Indianapolis.

BURNS HARBOR, Ind. (AP) — A crash involving two semi-trucks closed a stretch of freeway in northwestern Indiana and scattered cargo including cocoa powder and batteries.

No one was injured in the early Friday crash along eastbound Interstate 94 in Burns Harbor.
