FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — A pontoon boat company plans to close its Iowa plant and move production to an Indiana location.

The Messenger reports that about 45 employees will lose their jobs at the Misty Harbor plant in Fort Dodge.

Misty Harbor President Jeff Miller says the work done in Fort Dodge will be moved to the Bristol, Indiana, plant to “optimize operational efficiency and reduce logistic costs.”

BRISTOL, Ind. (AP) — Police in northern Indiana say an officer fatally shot a suspect who crashed his vehicle into a patrol car during a chase that ended in Michigan.

The Bristol Police Department says in a news release the fleeing suspect led a chase that began in Bristol and ended just over the state line in St. Joseph County, Michigan, where the suspect crashed into a patrol car, slightly injuring one officer, and was shot around 12:30. Friday. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. His name hasn't been released.

$52 Million Plan Would Create 250 Jobs In Elkhart County

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) — Officials say a metal forming company plans to invest $52 million and create 250 jobs in northern Indiana.

Chris Stager, president of the Elkhart County Economic Development Corp., says Brinco wants to use a former Chassix facility in Bristol that's been vacant since 2017.

The Elkhart Truth reports that the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021 and they plan to hire 150 new employees during the first phase.

BRISTOL, Ind. (AP) — A state agency says a northern Indiana company was partly responsible for the death of a 43-year-old employee who was killed when welding equipment fell from a forklift.

The investigation by Indiana's workplace safety agency revealed that Bravo Trailers in Bristol didn't ensure that each forklift operator was properly trained and ensure that forklifts only handled safely arranged loads.

Shawn Gray died on June 7. State regulators have proposed a $21,000 fine.



ADEC, a Bristol-based non-profit that works with people with disabilities, is looking for community members to accompany its clients to a ball in April. A program it’s calling 'buddies.'  

The buddies are not really volunteers. They still need to purchase a ticket to the ball but they will accompany one of ADEC’s clients to the event.

The buddy pairs will also take part in a choreographed dance at the ball.


The Elkhart Civic Theatre is planning a renovation of the Bristol Opera House.

The 110 thousand dollar renovation will revamp the lobby area and overhaul the men’s restroom.
