In Michigan,  the Berrien County community of Buchanan may be well known for Redbud and motocross, but the city recently attracted the attention of journalists at the BBC. People in Buchanan were interviewed about the presidential election.

The feature produced in Buchanan can be heard here. It's about eight minutes into this program.

Spring has sprung in WVPE's latest Photo of the Week. Thanks to Heather Story for the image she submitted from Buchanan, Michigan, or as she calls it "Red Bud City." Heather captured her photo in Buchanan on the evening of May 7th as the trees were just beginning to bloom and as the grass was greening up.

Buchanan Library Eliminates All Fines

The Buchanan District Library has eliminated all fines. It’s following a national trend of libraries going fine-free. Chicago, Kalamazoo, Detroit and other libraries have jumped on board too.

Southwest Michigan's First Medical Marijuana Business Opens

The first medical marijuana provisioning center in Southwest Michigan, Zen Leaf, opened for sales in Buchanan today.

Medical cannabis has been legal in Michigan since 2008.  Buchanan Mayor Patricia Moore says the city just got a provisioning center because officials were trying to make sure it was done right. She says she’s happy with the results.
