SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — More than 2,400 sets of fetal remains found last year in the Illinois garage and a car of an Indiana abortion doctor after he died will be buried Wednesday at a northern Indiana cemetery.

Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill’s office said Monday the 2,411 sets of fetal remains will be “memorialized” at a graveside service at Southlawn Cemetery and Palmer Funeral Home in South Bend.

Hundreds of people gathered at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles Wednesday afternoon for the burial of a Vietnam War veteran who has no living relatives. 

Wayne Wilson, also known as “Sarge,” was buried with military honors which included the playing of taps, a 21-gun salute, and the folding and presentation of the American Flag. Charlotte Andrews, a friend who knew Wilson for nearly 25 years, received the flag.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Former Sen. Richard Lugar will be buried later this month at Arlington National Cemetery, nearly three months after his death.

After Lugar died at age 87 on April 28 from complications of a neurological disorder, it was announced he would be buried at the cemetery that's just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.

The late Republican lawmaker's burial there has now been scheduled for July 24.
