Washington Township Schools will only open virtually for at-home learning when school starts July 30. Previously, the district said it intended to offer full-time in-class instruction or the option for remote classes.

The Washington Township School Board approved a resolution Monday morning in a 3-2 vote at a special meeting, citing ongoing infections and deaths from the coronavirus and feedback from parents and staff.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — The fall term at the University of Michigan will open Aug. 31 with a mix of remote learning and in-person classes at the Ann Arbor campus. The school announced its latest response to the coronavirus. Residence halls will be open, but there will be an emphasis on boxed meals and fewer people at one time in dining rooms. Large classes will be held online. Small classes will meet in-person, and class sizes in the middle will be a mix of both. President Mark Schlissel is promising more details in the weeks ahead.

School leaders and educators are still figuring out what the state's latest guidance on how to reopen buildings means for them. Many worry about how to pay for some of the changes, and whether or not all of them will be needed – or possible – in different parts of the state.

Today an email was sent to students, parents and other members of the Purdue University community outlining further plans for a return to campus for in-person classes in August. The plan calls for eliminating any breaks during the semester and once students go home for Thanksgiving, having them stay at home. The remainder of the semester would then be completed remotely.

Earlier today the President of Purdue, Mitch Daniels, announced that the university is planning to hold fall 2020 semester classes in person.
