Ball State University says it will likely reschedule graduation ceremonies cancelled because of COVID-19 restrictions for either the summer or the fall, depending on what state recommendations are still in place.

When Ball State cancelled its early May spring commencement, it sent out a survey on what to do next.  The school says the more than 4,000 responses overwhelmingly showed people wanted an in-person ceremony, not a virtual effort.

Indiana K-12 schools will not reopen this academic year as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

The Indiana Department of Education ordered schools Thursday to develop plans to prepare for the long-term fallout from that decision.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jennifer McCormick says those “continuous learning plans" will help the state see how schools will continue educating all kindergarteners through high school juniors while buildings remain shut.

Purdue University’s in-person spring commencement ceremonies have been officially cancelled.

In a letter to students Tuesday, Purdue President Mitch Daniels said plans were underway to create a virtual ceremony. The school was scheduled to hold six graduations between May 15 and May 17 at Elliott Hall of Music, which contains seating for just over 6,000 people.

On Monday, the university announced that in-person classes at Purdue would not resume for the remainder of the school year.

The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association invested $10 million into the school to reduce a weeks-long wait period for customers to get repairs. They say it’s because there aren’t enough technicians.

Although 26 students are in the first cohort, two retirees were the first to complete written and practical tests to earn a Level 2 Technician certification.
