Notre Dame Women Give Ivey Her First Head Coaching Win

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Destinee Walker scored 24 points, Maddy Westbeld added 19 plus nine rebounds and Notre Dame gave new head coach Niele Ivey her first victory, 88-68 over Miami of Ohio. Ivey took over for Hall of Famer Muffet McGraw, who retired with 939 career wins. Ivey's Fighting Irish gave her the lead for good just over three minutes into the game, extended it to 15 points at halftime and kept it in double figures the rest of the way. Peyton Scott scored 18 points and Katie Davidson had 16 along with 10 rebounds for the Redhawks in their opener.

NEW YORK (AP) — Notre Dame guard Jackie Young will skip her senior season and enter the WNBA draft. She announced her decision on Twitter, nearly a day after the Irish lost a heartbreaking game to Baylor for the NCAA championship.

TAMPA – For the seventh time in program history, the Notre Dame women's basketball team will compete for the NCAA Championship title.   At 6 p.m. on ESPN, the Irish will square off against the No. 1 overall seed in Baylor.

Ogunbowale, Irish Rally Past UConn 81-76, Now Play For Title

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Arike Ogunbowale scored 23 points and led Notre Dame's rally from a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter as the defending champion Irish beat UConn 81-76 Friday night to return to the title game.

For the second straight year and ninth time overall, the Notre Dame women's basketball team will be on the NCAA Final Four stage.

Tonight the Fighting Irish (34-3) will face long-time rival UConn (35-2) in the National Semifinal.

It will mark the 50th matchup between the two programs.

Tip is set for 9 p.m. ET tonight inside Amalie Arena in Tampa.

It will follow the 7 p.m. tip between Baylor and Oregon. Both games will air on ESPN2.
