Another hummingbird photo is the pick for WVPE's latest Photo of the Week.   Thanks to Debbie Ray of South Bend for this image. Debbie says she has been in self-quarantine since March. She only sees neighbors and a few friends occasionally so she says she has "adopted these little guys." She took this picture as a hummingbird visited the bird feeder on her balcony on the south side of South Bend on September 5. She says the presence of the hummingbirds helps to make life more bearable for her during the pandemic.

The skies over South Bend provided a stunning backdrop for WVPE's latest Photo of the Week.   Sam Lima of South Bend captured this image of rainbows over Tippecanoe Place on August 27, 2020. Built by Clem Studebaker from 1886-1889, Tippecanoe Place is an iconic South Bend landmark.

Mike sent us a photo of someone fishing out on a boat around 7:30 Wednesday morning on Worster Lake at Potato Creek State Park near North Liberty. You can see the mist and fog clearing above the water.

She says her meditation group was walking past the pond when the frog appeared.  She thought the lighting made it look like an abstract painting.

This WVPE Photo of the Week features a monarch butterfly on a milkweed plant at Ox Bow Park in Elkhart County. Thanks to Nelson Kraybill of Elkhart for this submission. Nelson is encouraging people to plant milkweed as a way to help monarch butterflies thrive. Monarch populations have been in decline due to farming, development and loss of habitat. Nelson captured this image of a monarch on July 12, 2020.

But on Wednesday, June 24, Candice Schilz of Knox was where she needed to be to capture this image of a rainbow over Bass Lake which is WVPE's latest Photo of the Week. Candice says that the day had been beautiful and then a little thunderstorm moved in before the return to sunshine which created the rainbow.

He says he was working in his garden Tuesday morning, looked up, and saw the clouds forming what looked like an  `X-ray' of a spine and ribs in the sky.

Scott encourages you to find what is hidden among the mayapples in the photo. He says the black cat peeking out kept a close eye on him and his dog as they walked past and he was able to snap this picture.

A building at Bonneyville Mill County Park in Elkhart County is framed by blossoming tree branches in WVPE's latest Photo of the Week.

Bonneyville is home to Indiana's oldest continuously operating grist mill that still produces stone-ground flour.

Her caption not only works as a photo description but also is a nod to the current pandemic conditions. Ashley took the photo April 20, 2020, at Notre Dame.

Ashley also happens to be one of the many brides-to-be being affected by the pandemic. Her plans for her wedding ceremony scheduled for tomorrow had to be drastically altered as a result of the virus.

In the picture. Helen Buck, of Mentone, gets as close as she can to her husband, Alton Buck, as they visited through the window of his room at the Peabody long-term care facility in North Manchester about a month ago. When she went back last week to wish him a happy 84th birthday, they could only wave to each other through the closed window.

Today our Photo of the Week is certainly fitting for the weather outside. It depicts snow in spring. This photo of  snow and a daffodil and a leftover Easter decoration sums it up pretty well. Jeanette Saddler-Taylor submitted this image taken outside her home in South Bend on April 15, 2020. Jeanette is also a regular contributor to our Michiana Chronicles feature. She says she is referring to this picture as "Mother Nature's whomp upside the head!"

Thanks to Mike Morehouse for this week's Photo of the Week. He sent in a photo of a painting he created last week in Niles in the woods at Silverbrook. Mike was practicing "plein air" painting, which is the act of painting outdoors.  A great idea during this time of social distancing. He said he was channeling his inner Bob Ross. It's been a crazy week between the markets, coronavirus and primary elections.  So let's all just take a deep breath and enjoy a tranquil sunrise. This image comes to us courtesy of Dawn Burns of Syracuse, Indiana. Dawn captured this scene on Lake Wawasee on August 5, 2019, at 6:31am when it was a balmy 62 degrees. She says she was struck by the quiet and still nature of the lake that morning with what she calls a perfect balance of mist and color. Dawn says she happened upon this image during one of her regular morning walks to the lake.
