WVPE's latest Photo of the Week is of the East Race and comes courtesy of Mary Pontario of South Bend. It was taken early on a gray cloudy morning this week, while the St. Joseph river was still illuminated by the multi-colored river lights near downtown.

Doug Mappin took a photo of an outstanding rainbow -- and almost a second one! -- over South Bend on Monday morning for WVPE's latest Photo of the Week. Doug says he was on his way to work while listening to WVPE and noticed the colorful arc nicely framing the First United Methodist Church on Main Street in South Bend.

Earlier this week, on Monday, a lot of people in Michiana captured images of a particularly beautiful sunrise. You may have seen some of the many shots that were posted to social media. Thanks to Melanie Helmuth of Goshen for WVPE's latest Photo of the Week that is yet another example of that gorgeous sunrise. She snapped this photo at Fidler Pond in Goshen. Melanie says many days during work, she drives past Fidler Pond and sees amazing sunrises, but never gets to stop. Monday she was off work and decided to finally stop and enjoy the sunrise! We're glad she did.

The patterns of nature can be intricate and beautiful. That is what Christine Guth of Goshen discovered one late February morning on a sidewalk on Goshen's East Monroe Street. With our recent warmer temperatures, this is an icy reminder of the February chill. Thanks to Candice Schilz of Knox for this Photo of the Week that she captured at Silver Beach in St. Joseph, Michigan, on Feb. 20th. She said hundreds of people were out walking that day in spite of the cold. The beauty of the lighthouse is a draw for people, even in winter.
