Director of National Intelligence – and former Indiana Senator – Dan Coats says the nation’s intelligence apparatus isn’t harmed by a lack of information, but by a lack of ways to process it efficiently.

That was Coats’ message Tuesday during a speech at a Purdue University symposium on using artificial intelligence for military purposes.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Swedish manufacturer Saab says it will open an Indiana manufacturing site as part of its production of a new Air Force training jet.

Company officials announced Wednesday plans to spend $37 million on the facility at Purdue University's Discovery Park District Aerospace in West Lafayette. The move comes after Saab and Boeing won a $9.2 billion contract from the U.S. Air Force last year to build at least 351 T-X training jets.

Six Indiana organizations have pitched in to buy a new high-tech microscope. The nearly $9 million machine is a cryo-electron microscope that allows scientists to examine molecules at the atomic level.

NASA Chooses Purdue For New Space Habitats Institute

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — NASA has chosen Purdue University as the site of a new research institute that will design deep space habitats for humans.

The Resilient ExtraTerrestrial Habitats institute, or RETHi, will be located in West Lafayette, and is set to receive as much as $15 million over five years from the space agency.

The new institute is a partnership with the University of Connecticut, Harvard University and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Purdue's Edwards Plans To Hire Agent, Enter NBA Draft

Purdue guard Carsen Edwards will give up his final year of eligibility and enter the NBA draft.

The 6-foot-1 shooting guard also plans to hire an agent. He made the announcement on Twitter .

Edwards was the leading scorer for the Boilermakers this season, averaging 24.3 points. It was the highest average of any Big Ten Conference player since Shawn Respert of Michigan State had 25.6 points in 1994-95.
