ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Republican congressman Fred Upton says he will seek re-election to his Sixth Congressional District seat.

In announcing his re-election bid Monday, Upton says there is ``unfinished” business that has to be completed, including fighting the opioid epidemic and immigration reform.

The 66-year-old Upton Upton was being watched closely as a potential House retiree as Republicans struggle to try regaining the chamber majority in the November elections.

Holcomb's Path To Re-election Likely An Easy One

Gov. Eric Holcomb officially launched his re-election bid Saturday and political analysts say Holcomb’s path to a second term is likely an easy one.

No elected Indiana governor has lost a re-election bid since the state began allowing second terms in the 1970s. And Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics director Andrew Downs says it’s unlikely Eric Holcomb will break that trend.

“His polling numbers are pretty good … he also starts out with a strong financial advantage over the Democrats,” Downs says.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb is heading into the 2020 campaign season with $6 million to spend on a probable re-election bid thanks to the leverage of leading a GOP-dominated state and no high-profile Democrats yet vying to unseat him.
