A northern Indiana county's 125-year-old courthouse will be saved from demolition and renovated as part of a $6 million preservation project.

Pulaski County officials had announced plans in 2018 to tear down the building in the county seat of Winamac.

County officials recently approved a renovation plan.

The 1894 courthouse was built of Indiana limestone in the Romanesque revival architectural style.

GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) — Work toward restoring the luster of an early 1900s theater in northern Indiana is getting an unexpected $1 million boost.

Leaders of the Goshen Theater Board say a family that’s remaining anonymous recently pledged $500,000 to its renovation project and it is being matched by the Community Foundation of Elkhart County.

That's allowing the group to broaden the $4.2 million in work now underway.

St. Joseph County Public Library.

The St. Joseph County Public Library is moving forward with a plan to completely overhaul its main branch in South Bend.

The renovations will put an emphasis on community meeting space and technology. It will add a courtyard, meeting rooms, an auditorium and a tech center.

Debra Futa is the executive director of the St. Joseph County Public Library. She says they looked at what people were actually using the library for to come up with the plans for what the refurbished library should look like.
