Pat Hackett won the Democratic Primary for Indiana’s Second Congressional District seat and will be facing incumbent Republican Jackie Walorski in the General Election.

It was a rather quiet victory night for Hackett. She would normally be celebrating with a room full of her supporters - but instead she shared the moment with her spouse Rita and a few close campaign workers.

Hackett gave her victory speech on Facebook Live due to the pandemic.

She beat Democrat Ellen Marks for the nomination.

In her speech, Hackett challenged Republican Jackie Walorski, saying the stakes are high in the upcoming general election.

“Our current representative in this district, Jackie Walorski, who was kept in office by outside special interest, represents neither the people of this district, nor is she capable of advocating in our national interest,” Hackett says.

Walorski beat her primary challenger, Christopher Davis, on Tuesday. She is seeking her 5th term in a congressional district redrawn in 2010 in a way that favors Republicans.

BULLETIN (AP) — Patricia Hackett, Dem, nominated U.S. House, District 2, Indiana.

As the presumptive nominee, Hackett will take on Republican Congresswoman Jackie Walorski in November. Walorski won the seat in 2012 and has been reelected to the position ever since. Walorski has also been called as the winner in her primary today against Christopher Davis.

Hackett faced off against Ellen Marks in the Democratic race in Indiana's 2nd Congressional District.

Hackett Tuesday night said that normally a primary election victory would be celebrated with supporters in person, but due to the pandemic she spoke with her supporters via Facebook Live.
