Officials from South Bend’s Transportation system, Transpo, said they’ve seen little impact on ridership since the COVID-19 outbreak.

All Transpo busses are still up and running. Transpo officials said the busses are cleaned each night as part of the normal cleaning procedure, but they’re paying extra attention to high-touch areas.

Bus drivers are also equipped with cleaning supplies to use throughout the day.

Zachary Nelson is the marketing director for Transpo. He said right now, the busses are operating on a normal service schedule.

“I will say like every business and organization, we’re evaluating everything on a daily basis.”

Nelson said they’re evaluating ridership numbers more frequently since the outbreak, but have not seen a significant impact on those numbers so far.
