Concord Schools Working On New Round Of Capital Projects

Concord Schools

Concord Schools have started planning for more than $15 million in capital improvements across its district.

The capital improvement project are things like new roofs, new chillers, a remodel for the performing arts center, paving projects and a new baseball block house.

Assistant Superintendent Tim Tahara said the projects will be paid for through existing funding from tax rates that were set in 2014.

“In the last few years we’ve gotten to the point where ok, we’ve tried to take care of some needs in staffing and technology and transportation and now we’re at the point of taking care of needs in buildings and grounds.”

Two hearings on the plans have taken place. Official notice of them will be published. Taxpayers can object through a petition project. If no one does the projects can go ahead starting February 11.

Some construction is expected to happen over the summer. Other projects don’t have timelines yet.
